Shoulder Press 5 – 5 – 5 – 5 – 5
45 – 55 – 65 – 75 – 85
Well, I’ve been putting this off for too long. We’ve been in our new place for nearly a month and this is my first “official” workout. I love the feeling of challenging myself, but making time for working out hasn’t happened yet.
I haven’t been just sitting around, though. I started Tae Kwan Do three weeks ago and would be there tonight, but my son wasn’t feeling up to going so I stayed home with him. The most significant reminder of why fitness can be so important is falling back in love with biking thanks to my wife and my son. We’ve been mountain biking at least twice a week since we moved and I love it more than I’ve loved any sport except maybe snowboarding.
I’m going to posting regularly, but most of my workouts are going to be strength-oriented with some conditioning mixed in but I’m hoping biking will take care of the conditioning for me. I want to be stronger, so I’m going to focus on a 5×5 training regimen for a while. I’ll mostly rotate through shoulder press, front squat, deadlift, power cleans, clean & jerks and snatches.
What activity have you lost touch with that you want to start again? Make it part of your life in any way you can. It doesn’t have to be massive amounts or at a super-high level. Just get back in touch, say hi and get to know it again.
Do hard stuff, it’s fun. Plus it helps you live better.
